Accelerated Reader

The Goals of the Accelerated Reader Program...

Students at St. John Lutheran School use the Accelerated Reader Program as part of the Reading Curriculum. The goals of using the Accelerated Reader Program are to improve reading skills, to foster in children the love of reading and in turn making life-long readers.

How the Accelerated Reader Program is Used...

In the Primary Grades, Accelerated Reader is use in conjunction with the Saxon Phonics Program.

In the Upper Grades, the Accelerated Reader Program is used as a part of the total Literature Program.

How the Accelerated Reader Program Works...

Students begin by taking the STAR Reading Test. This test establishes the students reading grade level. Students are then assigned a reading goal and may read books in their established reading level. Upon completion of the book, students complete a computer test. The completed quiz assigns points depending on the degree of success the student achieves.

Available Quizzes and Books...

St. John is constantly increasing the number of quizzes and books available for the AR Program. Our library now consists of over 3700 AR Quizzes and most of the books to accompany them. Books not available in our library may be obtained from the Chester Public Library or may be purchased by students. Click the button above for a list of available AR quizzes.
