IMMEDIATE FUNDS NEEDED TO HELP PURCHASE WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE VAN FOR PASTOR AFTER STROKE

Lutheran Church Charities received an urgent request for financial assistance from Friends in Christ Lutheran Church in Morris, Illinois, to help raise funds for their pastor, Rev. Mark Willig, who had a stroke in December and is now paraplegic. He will be released from a rehab facility soon and needs a wheelchair accessible van with a ramp for transportation. The cost of a used accessible van is $61,000.

Pastor Willig celebrated thirty-nine years in ministry this past December. He has faithfully served at Friends in Christ with his wife Paula since 2013. His congregation is asking LCC for our donor financial support to assist them in providing for their beloved pastor and his wife during these challenging times.

Pastor Willig and Paula trust in God’s healing hand, comfort, and strength as they hold steadfast to the words of Pastor’s favorite hymn:

Lord Thee I Love (verse 1)

Lord, thee I love with all my heart;

I pray thee, ne'er from me depart,

with tender mercy cheer me.

Earth has no pleasure I would share;

if thou, Lord, wert not near me.
